Cheerway Care, Inc. is a licensed, bonded and insured home care company. We specialize in providing a variety of home care services in the Maryland area. If you or your loved one suffers from a long or short-term disability, a chronic illness or just needs companionship and assistance with daily life, Cheerway Care is committed to providing compassionate caregivers tailored to your situation and needs.

Cheerway Care's History

Cheerway Care initially started as Cherwai, LLC in 1996. It was formed as a result of the pressing need for quality care which Nellie, the founder, observed as a Geriatric Nurse and a Visiting Nurse. Inspired by her brother, Richard, whose parting advice was to start a company that would genuinely help people, she founded this successful home care company with the assistance of family and friends. Cherwai, LLC eventually became Cheerway Care, Inc., and today, Cheerway Care continues to grow as a reputable, caring family-owned and operated business. 

Why the name change? Cherwai is a word from the Mountain Province dialect in the Philippines; it is difficult to give an exact meaning in an English context, but it can be interpreted as “everything will be okay…everything will be fine!” Nellie, originally from the Philippines, decided to change the name to Cheerway, an English derivative of the original word. It is a fitting name, as anyone who knows Nellie finds her to be full of cheer and compassion on any given day. These characteristics continue to stand out in our Cheerway Care team as we are committed to giving care with cheer and compassion... the Cheerway way!

Nellie, after 41 years of serving in the health care field, retired and went back to the Philippines to care for her own beloved 100-year-old mother.  True to her passion, she became the best, cheerful caregiver to her own parent. Today, Nellie’s legacy of cheer, care and compassion still continues as Nellie’s family members continue to operate Cheerway Care with the same “Cherwai” spirit... “everything will be okay... everything will be fine!”
